Per lo studio, la cura, l'assistenza e l'informazione sui tumori cerebrali infantili

Not everybody is aware that children can get cancer

Tommasino Bacciotti Many of them can be cured some, however, have very aggressive tumors with little chances to be eradicated by currently available treatments.

Tommaso Bacciotti had a rare variety of aggressive brain cancer known as pinealoblastoma detected when he was 9 months old. ‘Tommasino’ underwent intensive chemotherapy at the Florence Childrens' Hospital (Ospedale Meyer) and several operations, both at that hospital and abroad, which reduced the tumor and controlled it for one year.

In September 1999 the tumor became evident again and 'Tommasino' died on December 19, 1999.

The parents of Tommasino, Barbara and Paolo, decided to direct the solidarity of their family and friends to create a fund dedicated to the fight against childhood brain tumors and to provide support to patients and families with this problem.

Tommasino, like all kids, had an enormous energy which his family does not want to be lost but rather to serve as a starting point to aggregate the contributions of other people sensitive to these problems. Tommasino has been a wonderful reality and this initiative wants to be joyful: to acquire energy from the death of a beloved one is the best possible reaction. No pity or grief but constructiveness. To this end the family of Tommasino has instituted a not-for-profit foundation for the fight against childhood brain tumors.
